He is a native Hawaiian, born and raised on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, and attended an all-Hawaiian boarding school the next island over where he actually learned to speak the language. He was a recruited Cross-Country & Track/Field athlete at Harvard where he eventually became co-captain of the Track/Field team and will continue to compete in these sports for UVA's varsity teams.
In high school, Ka'eo attended a boarding school. He was also in varsity cross-country, swimming, and track/field captain; member of the triathlon club and the National Honor Society.
Currently he has a pending scientific journal authorship based on an experiment that he designed on his SPUR internship at the University of Oregon that analyzed the effects of environmental and internal temperature on cycling critical power. He has in depth experience with the athletic recruiting process and hopes to pass down his experience to other students.
